Get Your Internet Networking Game On With “The Virtual Handshake”

Although it has been out awhile, “The Virtual Handshake: Opening Doors And Closing Deals Online” by David Teten and Scott Allen, is still the timeless Internet social networking bible on developing solid relationships with people online.

I was introduced to this phenomenal book when I met Scott Allen in February 2006. At one of the 1st blogging conferences, coordinated in Jersey City, NJ by HPNG President Ali Curi, Scott gave an awesome presentation on the potential of blogging and social networking. Scott Allen is also the Entrepreneurs Guide for About.com

What’s Up with that Social Network Thing?

Some food thought on social networks. This is one of many ways we continue to perform the “The Virtual Handshake” on the Internet.

Networking Diversity & Business Etiquette

Business Card Etiquette, by Elena Brower

Part of tuning in to WIIFM, the universal radio station, means meeting people at their diverse cultural needs. Warming up the audience to be receptive to your agenda involves putting on your “diversity sensitive” hat. An excellent, real life, example is Neil Payne’s article “Intercultural Skills crucial for Troops in Iraq“. Too bad we had to lose so many American Soldiers, until a few savvy leaders figured out that understanding the culture is the key to successful collaborative cooperation.

The Etiquette of Trading Business Cards, by Jason Freedman

Networking Never Takes a Holiday

Tom Murrell’s: Business Networking 101

Whether a career professional or business owner, we all have the free right to run ME, Inc. as a profitable enterprise. As CEO of ME, Inc., you have the responsibility of answering to your board of advisors (family, significant other, your children and yourself). Savvy Intrapreneurs know this right and responsibility go hand in hand.

Make sure you have business cards at the ready, for all the social and holiday events you attend. Family, friends and associates only take another person’s business or career seriously, when a business card is provided.

You can get 250 FREE business cards at Vista Print. Just pay shipping cost.

People in my family say to me “you gave me a card before. what do I have to do for you stop giving me a card?” I respond “when you provide me with a referral, I’ll stop AND give you a piece of the action if your referral turns into an opportunity”.

Jason Jacobsohn has an excellent article “7 Sure-Fire Ways to Network During the Holidays

Your Career is Your Business. Your Business is Your Career.

Is It Really About Who You Know?

God Knows (You gotta give to get)

Truth be known. Ultimate Networking is about who knows you, not who you know.

Connecting someone who needs something with someone who has something makes all the difference with achieving success exponentially quicker. Being a master connector of people insures your success is continuously maintained.

Connect people without an expectation of reciprocation. Make deposits to the “Good Will Bank” pays big dividends when you least expect it. Every time you connect 2 people, it’s like a farmer planting seeds for a profitable crop.
